The temple priest has rung his bell.
A cloud of smoke from candles and lamps
Haloes the Goddess, glowing bright
This beat of drums both maddens and dulls.
The incense burns: so heady the musk,
Our senses flounder in the flood.
This endless chant of sacred words
Soon drugs our lips and stuns our minds.
The Goddess, always staring down:
Her painted pupils cut through smoke
And read the secret thoughts we think.
We somehow feel this within our hearts.
To Mother, we know, we bow and pray –
Her form not just this image of clay.

At a place, where no food, no cloth;

At a place, where lives tormented woman;
At a place, where farmers making suicide;
At a place, where live old parents;
At a place, where chemicals flow in the holy rivers;
At a place where people quarrel for monuments;
Go there, “MAA” with the nine expressions;
Destroy the evils and bring the revolution;
I want to give a stunning Era to my next generation;
Then I will do “GARBA” with my constant devotion;

Why to worship, when daily to tease?
Never allow, though let them cease.
Honor killings and dowry deaths,
Are demons alive, yet not just myths.
Let’s we keep our bigotry aside,
Celebrate Dussehra in its truest form.
By burning effigies of pride,
And let our thought patterns, reform.
Let’s avow to honor all the women,
Being nice to them, paying due respect.
Let’s try to correct, our blurred vision,
That’s true worship, that’s being perfect.
